Reduced Vertical Separation is all the airspace above FL290 up to FL410 which requires a 1000ft or 300m vertical separation between all aircraft's.
At speeds greater than 480 kts and only 1000 ft vertical separation between one aircraft and another, it requires a great level of flight instruments, accuracy redundancy and pilot training. However, a 1000ft vertical separation is not the only authorization you will receive. The FAA will also grant Performance Base Navigation based on your aircraft Long Range Navigation capabilities and crew training.
This will enable your aircraft to travel through MNPS, WATRS PLUS or oceanic airspace which also requires special authorization from the FAA. Prior to FAA approval Southeast Flight Support will review all data to ascertain that your aircraft meets FAA accuracy requirements and crew training.
